Michael Dieterich, born in 1942, completed degrees in engineering and the natural sciences as well as in education and psychology, and is a university professor of educational science, social pedagogy and psychotherapy (University of Hamburg until 1995, Gustav-Siewerth-Akademie in Weilheim-Bierbronnen, and since 2007 university professor at Lee University, Cleveland, Tennessee, USA). He developed the now internationally established HAMET test for measuring and fostering vocational readiness, as well as the PST‑R personality structure test.
He is the director of the I·P·P and also director and scientific head of the IPS university institute for psychology and pastoral care in Freudenstadt. In the non-profit sector he built up the German Society for Biblical-Therapeutic Pastoral Care (BTS), where more than 15,000 life and social counsellors have been trained over the past 28 years. He is the author of over 150 scientific publications as well as numerous journal articles and books on a wide range of topics in psychology, counselling and pastoral care.
